Sean Thomas Downey

Sean Downey was born in Grosse Pointe on April 23, 1970 the son of Patrick and Patricia Downey. Sean passed away on May 4, 2017 at the University of Michigan Hospital with his family at his side. A graduate of Grosse Pointe South High School Class of 1988, and a graduate of Wayne State University in 1992. Sean met Ann Schulte in 1992. In their 20 years of marriage they raised twin sons Alexander and Tyler. Sean was employed as a Senior Marketing Manager for Comcast and was one of their top leaders in Southeast Michigan. He was an avid fan of the Lions, Tigers, Wings and University of Michigan football. Sean had a great sense of humor, and a personality that was infectious, winning the respect of those that encountered him. He was also devoted to his sons. He spent much time with them coaching sports, teaching technology, and mentoring them into becoming solid young men. Sean enjoyed building computers and had a of love of technology as well as an exceptional culinary prowess. He loved to have friends and family experience talent. Sean is survived by his beloved wife Ann, his loving sons Alexander and Tyler, his mother Patricia Downey-Dinnell (David), his siblings Michelle McCormick (Tom), Jennifer Hagaman (Dennis), and Daniel Downey. He is predeceased by his father Patrick Downey. Visitation for Sean will take place on Sunday May 7th from 2-8 pm with a Scripture Service 7:00 pm at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods. Sean will lie in state on Monday May 8th at 9:30 am until time of funeral Mass 10 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 467 Fairford, Grosse Pointe Woods. The family has requested that memorial contributions be directed to the American Heart Association.
