Sherry Linda VanGorder

Sherry L. VanGorder passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at the age of 72. She was born in Detroit on January 30, 1950; daughter of James and Thelma Carl. Sherry married Mark VanGorder on November 28th, 1970. The couple enjoyed 51 loving years together. They were blessed with three children: Kevin (Colleen) VanGorder, Bryan (Stephanie) VanGorder and Hillary (Peter) Wilhelm. She adored her grandchildren Charlie, Abby, Andrew, Amelia, Connor, Vinny and Oliver. She will be missed by her siblings Darlene Levitt, Timothy (Sharon) Carl, and David (Lyne) Carl.

Sherry had many hobbies including playing Words With Friends, Jigsaw puzzles, playing cards (especially poker) and watching TV. She had a love for animals and had numerous pets over the years. She loved going to Disney and spending time at the family’s cottage in Manistee Lake. Her biggest love of all was spending time with her family.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 8th from 1:00 until 8:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Her funeral will be held on Sunday at the funeral home at noon.
