Shirley J. Thill

Shirley J. Thill died peacefully in her sleep on July 1st at her residence in St. Clair Shores. She was born on October 12, 1927 in Detroit; daughter of Maurice and Erma (nee Smith) Remington. Shirley was a 1945 graduate from Denby High School in Detroit. She married Donald Thill in 1950 at St. Peter and Paul Church in Detroit. They had a wonderful marriage of almost fifty-four years until Donald's death in 2004. Mrs. Thill was very active throughout her life. She enjoyed bowling and playing bridge. Her artistic side enabled her to knit and crochet numerous items over the years. She loved going up north with her family to Trout Lake. Shirley was a dog lover who had many cocker spaniels at her side over the years. Shirley's biggest love in life was her family. She was very proud of her children Mary Beth Hughes (John), Peggy Hermann (Arthur), Donald Thill (Cindy), Susan Madison (Michael), Richard Thill, David Thill (Colleen), and Robert Thill (Susan). She adored her 17 grandchildren and her great grandson. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 until 8:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Shirley will be buried next to her beloved Donald at Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley.
