Stuart H. Cammett III

Stu was raised in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, by his parents, Barbara Dewey Cammett, who passed away in 2021, and Stuart H. Cammett Jr., who passed away in 2014. He is survived by his younger brothers, Bryan and John (Sylvie); his nieces, Barbara and Elizabeth (Josh); his aunt, Sandi Cooper; his Cammett cousins, Lisa, Annie and Melani; and his Dewey cousins, Bill, Bob, John, Julie and Tom.

A 1974 graduate of Grosse Pointe South High School, Stu lettered in football and basketball. He greatly enjoyed returning to Grosse Pointe South for his 50th class reunion and reconnecting with his former classmates. Stu continued his football career at the University of Wisconsin, where he played offensive tackle for the Wisconsin Badgers on a full athletic scholarship. He was also a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity.

Throughout his career, Stu held a variety of positions in logistics, parts supply and project expediting. Wherever he went, he brought a genuine desire to connect with people and a gift for animated storytelling.

Some of Stu’s happiest times were spent with his longtime high school friends, Remus, Mole, Kize, Marc, Archie, Harvey, Motown, Dan, Billy Mac, Bush and Bobby, reminiscing about the many good times they had shared. He also enjoyed fishing with his friend Joe, traveling to Florida and, more recently, visiting Hawaii. His trip to the Pearl Harbor museum left an indelible impression on him.

Stu was an avid fan of the Detroit Lions, Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers, and he remained devoted to all things Wisconsin Badgers. He will be remembered for his colorful stories, his enduring friendships and the enthusiasm he brought to the people and interests he loved. In 2022 Stu was inducted into the Grosse Pointe South High School Football Hall of Fame.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at Grosse Pointe Congregational Church at 4:00 p.m. on October 2, 2026, followed by a reception at Sinbad’s Restaurant in Detroit. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Stu's memory to the Grosse Pointe Congregational Church, 240 Chalfonte Ave, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI 48236.
