Susan Patricia Burke

Susan Burke passed away on February 15, 2014 at home with her loving family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 56. She was born in Detroit; daughter of Peter and Stephanie (nee Zremski) Vogt. Susan met her husband David while working together at AT&T. They were married on August 7, 1982 at Holy Family Church in Detroit. They have lived in St. Clair Shores since 1992. Sue loved the Detroit Red Wings and Tigers. She enjoyed bicycling and mountain biking. She was very athletic and was a good skier in both down hill and cross country. Recently she began sailing after taking lessons at the Crescent Sail Club. She was known by family and friends for her sense of humor. She was very caring and volunteered to read to children at elementary schools. She volunteered at the Fox Theater as an usher. Sue was not afraid to try anything once and "no" was not in her vocabulary. She will be missed by all of her friends and family. She leaves behind her loving husband of 31 years, David. She was proud of her daughter Krysta and adored her grandchild Jayden. She leaves behind her mother Stephanie and was predeceased by her father Peter. She is survived by her dear siblings Mary Rose Graham (Danny), Peter Vogt (Mary Beth), Julie Longlade (Craig), Jean Heath (Chris), and Elizabeth Davidson (Doug) and (the late David). Susan was predeceased by her sister Ursula. She will be missed by her numerous loving nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 until 9:00 pm and Tuesday from 2:00 until 9:00 pm at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Susan will lie instate on Wednesday from 9:30 am until the time of the Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 am at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, 21120 Madison, St. Clair Shores.
