Throughout her life, Susan was a beacon of light and touched the hearts of everyone she encountered. She possessed a kind and generous spirit that radiated warmth and comfort. Her genuine care for others knew no bounds. Susan will forever be remembered as a strong, bright, and caring soul.
Susan was born on March 12, 1970, in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, and found her true calling as an early childhood educator. With boundless patience, warmth, and creativity, she created a safe and engaging environment where children could explore and learn. Susan's love for her students was evident in every interaction, as she fostered their curiosity, celebrated their achievements, and helped them navigate the world with kindness and compassion. Beyond the classroom, Susan was a literacy tutor and coach, a library volunteer, and a passionate advocate for Ovarian Cancer Awareness.
Born and raised in Michigan, Susan cherished her roots and embraced the beauty of Bay City. A true Pisces, she found peace in the water and loved nothing more than spending time with her family at their cottages in Trout Lake and Harrisville, where she spent hours boating, swimming, and fishing. Her favorite motto, taken from Nemo, was “Just Keep Swimming”. This is how she approached her life with purpose and resilience.
Family was the cornerstone of Susan's life. She relished her role as a devoted wife to Robert and cherished her children Charlotte, John (Jack), and Kathryn (Kate). She created a nurturing and loving home where fun, laughter, faith, and love abounded. At heart, Susan was a teacher who, through her actions, taught us all to always look for the good in life and to have faith that everything will work out as it should.
Susan's nurturing and caring nature was evident throughout her life. She was a devoted friend, always there to offer support and brighten the lives of those around her. Her kind heart, positive spirit, and genuine interest in others made her a beloved presence in the lives of her friends and community. Susan will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her spirit lives on through the countless lives she touched and the brighter future she helped create through her family and her work as an educator. May her memory be a source of inspiration and comfort to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
"Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear."
