Teresa M. Colella

Teresa Marie Colella passed away in her sleep at home early Thursday morning July 21, 2016 in Shelby Township, Michigan. She was born in St. Joachim, Ontario, Canada on June 4, 1948. Teresa met her husband and the love of her life, when she was just 18 years old. They married in April of 1967 and moved to Michigan in 1975 where they would later became American citizens. She was an instrumental partner in the family printing business, Advance Printery for over 35 years. They spent the early years of their retirement in Cottonwood, Arizona before moving back to Michigan to be closer to family. Teresa enjoyed spending time with her family and preparing family meals and recipes. She enjoyed traveling, reading and learning new things especially involving technology. She had a generous, loving and passionate spirit and a sharp wit. These qualities live on in her children and grandchildren. Teresa is survived by her beloved husband Neil (Nello) Colella, her two daughters Cathy Colella-Smith (Scott Smith) and Denise Colella Bush, grandchildren Francesco (Frankie) Bush, Alex Smith, Giacobi Bush and Lucia Smith. Also survived by her sisters Sheila Gabus, Veronica Manolakos and Alice Fox and her brothers Ronald and Jude Mead. She was a loving aunt and great aunt of many nieces and nephews. Teresa grew up in LaSalle, Ontario, Canada and attended Sacred Heart Elementary School, St. Rose High School and later attended Business College. For many years, she served in the medical insurance industry at Blue Cross Blue Shield and later served as Administrative Director for private medical practices in Michigan. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 from 3:00 pm with scripture at 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan 48236. A Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am, with in state at 9:30 am, on Wednesday July 27, 2016 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack Avenue, St. Clair Shores, Michigan 48080.
