Thomas Murray

Murray, Thomas "Doc", Age 85, June 6, 2017 His leaving was sudden, but Tom left this life the way he lived it surrounded by his wife and family, in a room overflowing with love and prayers. Tom was a longtime resident of Fraser and a founding member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church (now St. Pio). Tom proudly called his children his "Cadillacs," explaining that his real wealth was his family. He invested his time, love, and energy into raising six children and being a source of strength to his extended family. Beloved husband of Carol Kasprowicz Murray, and dear husband of the late Catherine Duggan Murray. Dear father of Mary (Don) Owens, Robert, William (Renee), Eileen (Steve) Hudock, Thomas (Ann) and Peggy (Dave) Blue. Stepfather of Mary Beth Kasprowicz and Matthew (Christin) Kasprowicz. Proud grandfather of 21 and great-grandfather of 9. Brother of the late Mary (William) Crowley, Alice (James) McClanaghan, Virginia (Robert) Swick, James (Paula) Murray, and John (surviving wife Dolores) Murray. Brother-in-law of Wilfred Cassabon, Patrick (Joan) Duggan, Suzanne Glinski, Pauline (Frederick) Fedri, and Frank (Michelle) Taberski. A member of Pipefitters Local 636 for more than 60 years, Tom was known by many in the trades as "Doc" for his quick, cool-headed response in any crisis. He was an amazing storyteller and master of the practical joke, who more than once sent an unsuspecting apprentice off to "fetch a bucket of steam." His humor, the mischief in his eyes, and his engaging smile brightened the lives of all who knew him, but it was his wisdom and the depth of his love that made him rare and irreplaceable. Visitation Sunday 2-8pm with a scripture service at 7pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Rd., Warren (at Masonic). Instate Monday 10:30am until time of Mass at 11am at St. Pio of Pietrelcina, 18720 Thirteen Mile in Roseville. Memorial contributions to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen.
