

Val is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gloria and their three children, Aileen Valerie (Jason), Avenel Deosil, and Val, Jr (Jennifer), and his six grandchildren, Natalie, Joey, Anthony, Leo, Stella and Nico. He is also survived by his two sisters, Pacifica Condez and Magdalena Tarusan, along with many nieces and nephews in the U.S. and the Philippines.
He was born on May 21, 1937, in Ibajay, Aklan in the Philippines to Deogracias and Asunción Solano. He received his Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from MAPUA Institute of Technology in 1963.
He came to Detroit, Michigan in 1972 where he raised his family. He worked for over 20 years for the City of Detroit.
Val was a man of faith, hard working, selfless, kind-hearted and joyful. He always had a smile with an infectious laugh. In his retirement years, he enjoyed traveling, playing mahjong, going on medical missions, singing and dancing, and enjoying time with his grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 4th from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM. Mr. Solano will lie instate on Thursday from 9:30 Am until the time of the Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 am at St. Joan of Arc Church, 21620 Greater Mack, St. Clair Shores. He will be interred at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Twp., Michigan.
