Victor Judnic

Victor Judnic, of Grosse Pointe Woods, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 8, 2023. He was born on April 27, 1965 in Chicago, IL. He was 57. Victor was the soul mate, work mate and consummate party planner with his wife of 30 years, Anne Weertz. Victor always wanted to have kids and enjoyed being the father of Margaret and Andrew Judnic. He loved kids because he was a kid at heart, loving to play soccer and basketball. Victor’s parents, Antonija and Vladimir, emigrated from Slovenia and settled in Chicago. They were invested in the Slovenian church and community, where Victor learned traditional Slovenian dance. He graduated in engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He also earned a master’s degree in project management from Northwestern University. He was a vice president of HNTB, a national infrastructure solutions firm. He worked previously at MDOT and worked many years for Stanley Consultants, including five years as an engineer building roads and bridges in Jamaica. He taught at Lawrence Technological University and loved mentoring young people. Victor was a fantastic dancer, host of endless parties, and master martini maker. He loved jumping in and helping out. He was an avid runner, swimmer, biker and skier. He died doing what he loved, swimming laps at the Detroit Athletic Club. Victor was predeceased by his father, Vladimir. Besides being survived by Anne, Margaret and Andrew, he is survived by his mother, Antonija, and his brothers, Bogdan (Cindy) and Walter, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Even though he only lived 57 years, his years were full of life and love. Visitation will be at Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue, Grosse Pointe Woods, from 3-8 p.m. on Jan. 13. A funeral service will be held at St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Jan. 14. Victor was very generous.
