Werner A. Leiter, February 5, 1927-May 29, 2016. Long time Grosse Pointe Farms Resident, born on Detroit's Eastside. Graduated from Denby High School and immediately joined the U.S. Navy to fight in World War II. At the conclusion of the War he returned to Detroit and attended Detroit College of Business where he obtained a degree in accounting. After Graduation he married Barbara J. Stoke (August 12, 1950.) He worked briefly for the IRS before hiring in at Federal Mogul and Bowsl Roller Bearing. Most of his career was spent at the Budd Co. Where he was the controller of the Plastics Division. Werner and Barbara had three children, Kendrick, Thomas, and Susan. He was a great Dad! Enjoying Hunting, Fishing, and sports. He enjoyed playing with his kids as well as neighborhood kids. Later as grandchildren came, he became a great papa. During the last 25 years of his life he spent as much time as he could playing with his grandkids which he loved so much. Werner Leiter was a first Generation American and proud of it. He was a very hard worker and yet a very happy person who always had an encouraging word, or a comment to make one laugh. He cared about others and never acted unwilling to help those in need. Funeral will be Friday at 10:00 am at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave. at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods. Visitation will be Thursday 3-9 pm.
