William E. Lucier was born in Detroit on June 29, 1927 the son of Alvin and Estella (nee Barrett). As a young man he enlisted in the United States Navy during WWII. After his Naval service he worked for Chrysler as a master mechanic in engine development. His duties included test driving engines that were in various stages of development. He had the capability of rebuilding an engine in no time at all. He loved sailing on his own but also with his brothers and his good friend Sedge. He enjoyed spending time with his brother Ted at Ted's cottage at Port Austin. Though a life-long bachelor, William was never alone. Every Sunday and holiday William would have dinner with his family. William is survived by his sister-in-law Kathleen Lucier, as well as nieces and nephews, Barbara Klaus (Ron), James Lucier (Ann), Kathleen Fleming (Daniel), Michael Lucier (Nanette), Sharon Lucier and Eileen Lucier. His parents Alvin and Estella, his brothers John J. Lucier S.M., James W. Lucier, and C. Ted Lucier predeceased him. A memorial Mass will take place 10 am Monday May 9 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack, St. Clair Shores. Family and friends will gather beginning at 9:30 am.
