Born on September10, 1951 in Glen Cove, New York, Bill grew up in the nearby town of Glen Head. He graduated from North Shore High School before pursuing higher education with determination and focus. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana and later attained a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
Bill was a loving family man and a good neighbor whose warmth and humor left a lasting impression on those around him. Although seeming a quiet man he had a wonderful sense of humor and delighted in making people laugh- a gift he shared generously throughout his life.
Bill retired from Detroit Edison after a long career in marketing.
An avid sailor, Bill found his greatest joy out on the water. He was an active member of the Edison Boat Club, where he spent countless hours navigating the waves and sharing stories with fellow enthusiasts. His passion for sailing was matched by his deep interest in genealogy; he enjoyed researching his family history and uncovering the threads that connected generations.
Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Kittle Newbold, and his step- daughter Carrie. He is survived by his grandson Atom Chetcuti; his three sisters, their spouses; as well as five nieces and three great nephews.
Bill’s legacy lives on through the memories he created with family and friends—on land and at sea. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
