William T. Schulz

William Schulz passed away on Friday January 22, 2016 at St. John Hospital in Detroit with his family by his side, He was born in Detroit in 1937, the son of Carl and Matilda (nee Wrobel) Schulz. William was a lifelong member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grosse Pointe Farms. He was baptized at this church and married Gloria, his high school sweetheart, at this church 57 years ago. His children Robin, Brian and Becky were also baptized at St. Paul. Gloria said that he was two years older than she when they met in high school and that he took her under his wing, they were in love from then on. William is survived by his beloved wife Gloria, his loving children - daughters Robin Gasloli (Rick), Becky Herd (Merv), and his son Brian Schulz (Melissa). He was a doting grandfather to Kelly, Christopher, Calum, Ava, Andrew and Alyssa. He was predeceased by his parents. William received his bachelor degree in accounting from Wayne State University and worked at an accountant, then comptroller at a couple of companies. He ended his career as comptroller at the Michigan Opera Theater in 2003 after 10 years of service. He treasured family vacations, especially to Crystal Mountain, Michigan. He enjoyed playing golf with the church golf league; early on he liked to bowl. William also liked to play poker with his friends in his men's poker club. A memorial service will take place at Noon on Monday February first at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods. Family and friends will gather beginning at 11 am. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 375 Lothrop, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI 48236
