

Almeda “AJ” Bair, a beloved mother, grandmother, and community member, passed away peacefully at the age of 79. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Hazel Fickel; her husband of 23 years, Larry Bair; and her daughter, Michelle Young.
AJ is survived by her sons, Michael (Kimberly) McCarrell and Mark (Stephanie) McCarrell; her grandchildren, Melissa, Logan, Rowan, Lauren, Jack, and Molly; and her brother, Larry (Candace) Fickel.
A vibrant and active member of her community, AJ was known for her dedication and enthusiasm in various roles. She served as the president of the Grove City Band Boosters, was a member of the SASS Single Action Shooters Society and the Vette Set Society, and served as president of the Powell Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association. AJ also volunteered at the Columbus Airport information desk, hosted elaborate Kentucky Derby parties, and organized a Christmas open house to showcase her Christmas Village collection. Her love for music was evident in her involvement with Source Point, where she took guitar lessons and played with her group. Additionally, AJ co-owned Glass-Rite for 22 years with her husband Larry contributing greatly to its success.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Schoedinger Grove City, 4242 Hoover Rd. A graveside service will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Grove City Cemetery West, 4501 Grove City Rd., with Mark Dettmer, Celebrant.
