Betty Ann Danish, 86, passed away on August 10, 2026. Born February 20, 1940, Betty Ann was a cherished and beloved presence—gentle in spirit, thoughtful in word, and someone who never knew a stranger. She lived with a kind-hearted patience and a compassionate, selfless devotion that was felt far beyond her immediate circle.
Betty Ann was a 1958 graduate of Hilliard High School. Her working life reflected diligence and reliability, spanning several jobs including General Motors, AC Delco, Sears, and Whirlpool, and most recently with the Columbus Police Department in the Records Department. Through each season of work, she carried herself with steady care for others and a calm, dependable presence.
A devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church for many years, Betty Ann’s faith was a guiding constant—expressed not in grand display, but in consistent kindness, generosity of heart, and sincere concern for those around her.
Betty Ann found deep joy in the everyday gifts of life. She loved spending time with her family and with her furry companion, Chloe. She enjoyed going to the casino and playing the slots, especially her Wednesday trips for lunch with her friends. At home, she loved caring for her yard and flower gardens—where her knowledge of plants and flowers was well known. She also enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles, watching her favorite TV shows and supporting the Buckeyes during Football season. Betty Ann loved spending time with family on vacations at the beach.
Betty Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Burton and Margaret (Albert) Funk; her daughter, Laurie Ann Phillips; her brother, James Funk; and her sister, Irene (Lee) Romine-Hunt. She is survived by her daughters, Kimberly (Edward) Sharrock and Robin Weitzel; her grandchildren, Tyler Sharrock and Sarah Sharrock; her niece, Dawn Funk; her furry companion, Chloe; and many friends.
