Bobbie served in the Army during the Korean War, answering duty with steady bravery and quiet resolve. A hard-working man who believed in earning his way and doing things right, he spent 20 years with Penn Central Railroad of Indianapolis before dedicating 33 years as part of the Teamsters, driving for McLean Trucking and Yellow Freight—work that reflected his devotion, loyalty, and the honest pride he took in providing for those he loved.
A man of plain truths and a matter-of-fact way, Bobbie carried himself with a straightforward integrity that never needed embellishment. Yet within that steady presence was a warm humor and a deeply loyal heart—faithful “to a fault,” as those closest to him knew well.
Bobbie’s greatest joy was his family. He loved them fully and faithfully, and he helped raise 7 of his 8 great-grandchildren, showing devotion not only in words, but in the daily constancy of being there. In his own simple way, he made his love unmistakable and enduring: “If he said he loved you once that was for a lifetime.”
Outside of work and family, Bobbie found happiness in the outdoors and on the open road—hunting and fishing, traveling to his property in Michigan, and taking in the sights and stories of the places he went. He also enjoyed classic cars and car shows, and he followed NASCAR racing with particular admiration for Rusty Wallace. He cheered for the Chicago Bulls as well, bringing the same loyal spirit to the teams and pastimes he enjoyed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Lula (Perkins) Griffith, brothers, Kenneth Griffith, Donald Griffith, sisters, Evelyn Archer, Emma Griffith and dear friends, J.W. Thomas and Jim Wilson.
He is survived by his son, Bobby (Christina) Griffith, granddaughters, Danielle Griffith, Candice Griffith, great grandchildren, Madelynne Burger, Brayden Burger, Eli Griffith, Dylan Linley, Gage Linley, Nova Mae Linley, Rya Mae Linley, Edward Baker, brother-in-law, Jerry Archer, sister-in-law, Joyce Griffith, sister-in-law, Sue Griffith.
Bobbie will be remembered as beloved and devoted—an honest, hard-working man with a steady courage, a dry sense of humor, and a loyalty that did not waver. His life leaves a lasting imprint on all who knew him.
