

Born on June 5, 1942, in Iaeger, West Virginia, Cal was the son of the late Wade and Mary Waller Chaffin. He spent his early years in West Virginia before moving to Ohio, where he built a successful 36-year career as a maintenance mechanic with The Timken Company.
Twenty-five years ago, Cal met the love of his life, Karen. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and cherished memories.
Cal was known for his ever-present smile and warm personality. He enjoyed watching television of all kinds, especially sports. He was a devoted fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cincinnati Reds, the Columbus Blue Jackets, and the Cincinnati Bengals. More than anything, Cal treasured spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He and Karen also shared a love of travel and enjoyed visiting many memorable destinations together, including Ireland, England, Hawaii, and Canada.
In addition to his parents, Cal was preceded in death by his brothers, Vernon E. Chaffin Sr. and Dallas Chaffin; and his sister, Maggie Perry.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Karen Chaffin; children, Kenny (Kathy) Roe, Jennifer (Scot) Klump, Brian (Amy) Thompson, Julie (Brian) Blevins, and Mark Harr; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his cherished dog Molly; and numerous extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Schoedinger Norris Grove City. Interment will immediately follow at Alton Cemetery.

Cal’s kindness, devotion to family, and bright smile will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
