Carol Lee Pozz, of Grove City, Ohio, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and loyal friend, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024, at the age of 81. Born on March 25, 1943, in Columbus, Ohio, to Harold and Martha Callahan, Carol lived a full and vibrant life.
A talented interior designer, Carol was the owner and sole proprietor of Carol Pozz Interiors. Her work was admired by many, as she personally designed and decorated entire rooms for the Decorators’ Show House in Columbus over multiple years. Her exceptional talent was recognized nationally when her work was featured in Better Homes and Gardens. Renowned for her impeccable ability to accessorize and select the perfect artwork, Carol’s eye for beauty and meticulous attention to detail brought a harmonious elegance to every space she transformed, leaving a lasting impression on all who experienced her designs.
Carol was deeply rooted in her faith and seldom missed a Sunday service. As a devoted member of East Columbus Christian Church, she served as the first female Elder after many years as a deacon. She taught Sunday School to young children for over 30 years, sang in the choir, led Vacation Bible School, served communion to those in the hospital, organized Adopt-a-Family initiatives, supported Youth for Christ, and was a Stephen Minister. Carol was well-versed in scripture, had many hymns memorized, and could craft and deliver a beautiful prayer. She maintained a daily prayer list for others, reflecting her unwavering faith and dedication to service, which were the foundation of her life. After East Columbus Christian Church dissolved, she joined Bethel Lutheran Church in Grove City, where she continued to nurture her spiritual growth and serve her community.
Carol had a deep love of food and fine dining. She often studied Zagat ratings before traveling to a new city to ensure she visited the best restaurants, with some of her favorite dining experiences taking place in New York City and Chicago. Closer to home, she loved sharing meals with family and friends. As the family cook, Carol was known for her beautiful salads and cherished recipes, including her famous macaroni and potato salads. She often catered family events, ensuring every gathering was filled with warmth, laughter, delicious food, and her homemade buckeyes. Beyond her family, Carol shared her culinary talents generously, providing countless meals to those in need throughout her lifetime.
Carol was an avid sports fan, holding front-row season tickets to the Columbus Clippers for over 40 years. She was also a die-hard Ohio State Buckeyes fan, attending numerous football games throughout her life. Her love for the Buckeyes began at age 10 when she attended her first football game with her sister Susan. They later traveled together to the 2002 National Championship game, sharing an unforgettable experience.
Carol cherished family vacations, especially trips to Lake Erie and Daytona Beach, Florida, where she created lifelong memories with her loved ones. Her family was her first priority. Her warm and joyous spirit was a blessing to everyone she met, and her kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on her family, friends, and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Martha Callahan; her sister, Susan Schleppi; and her brother, David Callahan.
