Carol Jean Shultz

Carol was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. A talented cook, she found great joy in preparing meals for her family. Passionate about her plant-based lifestyle, she loved sharing recipes, experimenting with new dishes, and inspiring others through her culinary creativity. She enjoyed reading, gardening with Doug, and cheering on her beloved Ohio State Buckeyes. Carol also treasured beach vacations with Doug and Squirt, her adopted and adored puppy.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mildred (Spencer) Ruby; her brother-in-law, Craig M. Smith; son-in-law, Robert L. Jones; and her grandson, Douglas J. Shultz.

Carol is survived by her devoted husband and best friend of 54 years, Douglas L. Shultz of Columbus, OH; her children, Joseph M. (Dina) Shultz of Columbus, OH, and Jamie Jones of Myrtle Beach, SC; her grandchildren, Zachary (Bre) Henegar of Des Moines, IA, and Melina Shultz of Columbus, OH; and her great-granddaughter, Lesley Raye Henegar of Des Moines, IA.

She is also survived by her brother, Edwin Ruby; sisters, Rebecca Smith and Mary (Bobbie) Germani; sister-in-law, Cynthia (David) Lute; and nieces and nephews: Chris, Adam, Amber, Mark, Stacey, and many other beloved family members and friends.

Carol passed peacefully, surrounded by her family, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was loved beyond words and will be deeply missed.

Carol’s family will hold a celebration of life on Tuesday, June 17th, 2025 at Schoedinger Norris Grove City, 4242 Hoover Road, Grove City, Ohio 43123, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am. For those that cannot attend in person, a streamed service will be available on Schoedinger's website.
