Carolyn I. Gary

In a life marked by steady effort and quiet strength, Carolyn worked hard and then retired as soon as possible so she could fully enjoy her retirement years. She embraced those years with intention and thoughtfulness, making time for the pursuits and people that mattered most to her. She retired from OSMA Ohio State Medical Association.

Carolyn was deeply devoted to her family, and she shared a particularly special bond with her mother. She lovingly cared for her mother until her passing, and the two of them shared many wonderful years and countless adventures together creating cherished memories.

Carolyn’s curiosity and adventurous spirit carried her far beyond home. She traveled all over the world, with Austria holding a special place as her top destination. Closer to home, she delighted in simple joys—she loved to shop, especially at antique malls and craft stores, and could happily spend hours browsing. She also enjoyed being part of a book club, where her love for reading and spending time with friends found a home.

Carolyn brought warmth and generosity to the lives around her. She was kind-hearted, fun to be with. Neighbors and friends came to know her as someone who made everyday moments brighter—whether through conversation, shared laughter, or a friendly game, especially Yahtzee.

In earlier years, Carolyn explored creative pursuits, including modeling in the 1970’s, and acting at the Player’s Club in Columbus—endeavors that reflected her willingness to try new things and step into new experiences.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Ora Gary; siblings, Doris Osborne, Donna Casto, Darlene Gary, and Earl (Nancy) Gary; her niece Theresa Gary and nephew, James Credit; and her furry companion Lexi;. She is survived by her brothers-in-law, Ernie Osborne and Jerry Casto; nieces and nephews, Debbie Credit, Pam (Aaron) Blevins, Ken Maynard, Chuck Maynard, Sheri (Mark) Nicodemus, Brent (Dana) Gary, Mike (Elaine) Gary, Gary Osborne, Bryan (Chris) Osborne, Shelly (Jason) Barr; along with a host of great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews, and the neighbors and friends she made over the years.

Visitation will be held at Schoedinger Grove City, 4242 Hoover Road, Grove City, OH 43123, on Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Schoedinger Grove City, 4242 Hoover Road, Grove City, OH 43123, on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Reber Hill Cemetery in Ashville, OH.

Carolyn’s life was a testament to generosity expressed in everyday ways, to thoughtful presence, and to a steady, appreciation for the world around her. She will be missed, remembered, and honored.
