Dan was born on December 16, 1940, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Lowell and Lucille Richards. He graduated from New Albany High School and continued his education at Columbus State and The Ohio State University.
Dan spent his career in the grocery and retail industry. He proudly owned two Super Dupers Grocery Stores before later retiring from United Dairy Farmers (UDF). He was known for his strong work ethic and friendly personality.
Dan was first married to Mary Benton, and together they welcomed their son, Terry. He later met and married the love of his life, Deanna Richards. Together they shared more than 50 wonderful years of marriage and raised Kevin and Jon. Dan and Deanna especially enjoyed traveling together, whether taking scenic drives or going on vacations, creating many cherished memories along the way.
A devoted man of faith, Dan was an active member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church for more than 30 years. He found joy in the simple things, including time with family and friends, caring for his yard, going out to dinner, and never missing an opportunity to support his beloved Buckeyes.
In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his beloved wife of more than 50 years, Deanna Richards, and his son, Jon Boyd.
He is lovingly remembered by his sons, Terry (Donna Walker)Richards and Kevin (Kimberly) Boyd; his grandchildren, Autumn (David) Laietta, Kyle (Logan) Richards, Amber Thomas, and Deanna Laubis; his great-grandchildren, Bradley, Hannah, and Daniel; his great-great-granddaughter, Iris; and many extended family members and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Schoedinger Funeral Home Grove City, 4242 Hoover Road, Grove City, Ohio 43123. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with interment immediately following at Grove City Cemetery East, 3605 Hoover Road, Grove City, Ohio 43123.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 2213 White Road, Grove City, Ohio 43123.
