David Andrew McKeever, age 52, passed away unexpectedly on August 6, 2026, in an automobile accident. He was born March 31, 1974, in Columbus, Ohio, to Richard and Alice McKeever. David grew up in Galloway, Ohio. He graduated in 1992 from Westland High School, where he enjoyed playing in the marching band.
David met his beloved wife, Alissa, at her work in 2000. Alissa was working at Meijer when David, a delivery driver for I+K Distribution, delivered food to the store. It was love at first sight, and they were inseparable from their very first date. David loved Alissa completely and unconditionally, and she was the love of his life. They were married in 2002 and went on to build a beautiful life and family together.
They then went on to both work at South-Western City Schools, where he served as Head Custodian at Darby Woods Elementary School. David loved his job and truly loved the staff and all of his children at Darby Woods Elementary School. His fun spirit, caring nature, and dedication made him a favorite among the students and staff.
David was a wonderful husband, father, and friend, and family remained at the center of everything he did. David was all about family and spent all of his time with the people he loved dearly. Whether spending time at home or going out to eat for dinner, there was nothing more that he enjoyed than being with his family. He lived life to the fullest and was happiest being at home with Alissa and Bradley.
David’s greatest joy in life was being a father to his beloved son, Bradley. Bradley was not only his son, but also his best friend and the person David was most proud of. From the day Bradley was born until his final day, David was a loving and very hands-on father who cherished every moment they shared. Their bond was truly special, and David loved his son more than words could ever express. They enjoyed doing everything together. Among those shared passions was their love of cars. Other than his family, cars were David’s greatest passion, especially mini trucks. He loved Chevys and was almost always known to own an S-10. He also enjoyed collecting Hot Wheels and die-cast cars and attending car shows and toy shows. David and Bradley traveled together to car shows, toy events, and anything centered around their mutual love of cars, or simply enjoyed anything and everything “car.”
David also dearly loved Bradley’s best friend and true love, Lenora, affectionately known as “SpongeBob.” From very early on, David saw Lenora as a daughter and welcomed her into the family with open arms. He loved her dearly and cherished the special bond they shared. She became an important part of David’s life and his family, and he loved her just as he did his own.
David loved doing for others and found happiness in making the people he loved feel cared for and supported. He was the most loving and caring person, and he had a way of befriending anyone he spoke to. David knew no strangers. If he spoke to someone, they were now a lifelong friend. His kindness, warmth, and genuine love for people touched everyone he met.
David had too many friends to name, as he had a gift for making friends wherever he went. However, he had two very special best friends, Dallas Short and Tara Shook. He went to high school with both of them, and although life was busy, they always made time to stay closely connected. Their friendships stood the test of time, and they remained tightly connected and an important part of each other’s lives until David’s passing.
David was preceded in death by two of his other best friends: his father, Richard Carle McKeever, and his cherished Weimaraner, Laci. He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Alissa McKeever; his son, Bradley (Lenora) McKeever; his beloved mother, Alice Evelyn McKeever; his sisters, Pam (Mike) Rodgers and Julie (Robert) Bausch; his in-laws, Maggie (Eric) Fuller, Mercie (Dean) Morgan, Shawn Teets, Nikki Sutton, and Meghan Fuller; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 16, from 2:00–5:00 p.m. at Schoedinger Funeral Home, 4242 Hoover Road, Grove City, Ohio 43123.
A funeral service will take place on Monday, August 17, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with interment to follow at Concord Cemetery, 6244 Hoover Rd, Grove City, OH 43123.
