

David W. Spegal entered eternal life on July 30, 2025 with his family by his side. David is survived by his parents, Harold and Ruth Spegal, brother Kevin (Kathy) Spegal and sister Tammy (Chuck) Kuhn, wife of 25 years, Amy, daughters Angie (Shawn) Ratliff, Jaclyn Spegal (Jerod Maurer), sons Luke (Hannah) and Jake (Claire), grandchildren Dru, Caleigh, Audrey and Izabella. David was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and friend to many. He graduated from Madison Plains High School in 1976 and started his career by founding Madison Tree & Landscape Co. in 1986. David grew the company from a single man landscape service in 1986 to a team of over 35 employees today. He then expanded into retail sales when he founded Madison Garden Center in 2004. David dove into real estate in the 2000’s as well when he acquired his first rental properties and founded Madison Properties, which today includes over 25 homes. Finally, he fulfilled his vision to serve his own wines in 2015 when he opened the Madison Wine & Vineyard Shop at the garden center, the first of its kind in Madison County. A devoted husband, a loving father, a friend to all and a mentor to countless, David was a generous and loving person. David was a dedicated and diligent entrepreneur known for his tireless work ethic and unwavering commitment to excellence. Throughout his life he exemplified values of dedication, perseverance and hard work. He was a mentor to many and his faith in God was the foundation of his character. His generosity touched countless lives and left a lasting legacy of kindness. He believed in speaking the truth, even when it wasn’t easy, and lived by the values he held dear. His family was everything and he built a life rooted in family and that love will live on for generations. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service for David at 2:00 p.m. Both events will be held at The Naz Church (Grove City Church of the Nazarene), located at 4770 Hoover Road, Grove City, Ohio 43123.
