Donald Gregory “Greg” Walker, 69, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on May 18, 2026. He was born December 3, 1956 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Arthur Edwin and Zelva Dorothy (Angles) Walker.
Greg was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He took pride in caring for his family and being their provider. His selfless nature was evident in the way he showed up day after day. He was thoughtful in his attention to others, hardworking in all he undertook, and compassionate in the countless small moments that made everyone feel at ease when they were around him.
Greg dedicated 35 years to Coca-Cola before retiring, a testament to his reliability and strong work ethic. He was known as being handy around the house. He could work on cars, fix almost anything that was broken, and approach each task with calm persistence. His wide collection of tools reflected not only his skill, but also the careful, steady way he built and maintained life around him.
Greg’s interests were as distinctive as they were memorable. He enjoyed collecting bourbon, watches, and antiques, and he was well known for his white T-shirts and Hawaiian shirts. They were simple trademarks that family and friends will long associate with him. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing football, and throughout his life he carried forward a grounded strength and steady determination.
Christmas was another time of the year that was special to Greg. He loved decorating the house with Christmas trees, cooking delicious meals, fixing his famous family recipe fudge and setting out one of his many Santa Claus figurines around the house. He loved that time of the year because he knew that he would be spending quality time with his family.
Blessed to have traveled to 45 states, Greg brought his family along in spirit and in experience on his many work trips. His girls especially will remember vacations filled with learning about the history of each place they visited and the cherished memories that they made.
There is a song by Diamond Rio called “One More Day,” and Greg blessed his family with one more day before he passed. It was a very special day. That one more that that they were able to spend together, and it will always remain a treasured gift.
He leaves behind a legacy of devotion, kindness, and steadfast love. An example of a life well lived and a man deeply valued.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Richard “Dick” Walker; father-in-law, John Fisher; and adored dog, Cimi.
Greg is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, his high school sweetheart, Christy Lynn Walker; daughters Carly (Donnie) Harkins, Kristen (Chris) Whitt, and Courtney (Andy) Bricker; cherished grandchildren, Kaylee Walker, Alexa Whitt, Blake Bricker, and Peyton Bricker; brothers, Daniel Walker, Dennis Ray Walker, and Mark Walker; sisters Peggy Burns and Donna Staten; mother-in-law, Charlene Fisher; cousin Joe Groves; lifelong special friends, Troy and Linda Hatfield; dogs, Khole, Mitsy, and Coco; and many other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Greg’s life will be held at a later date.
