Emogene Rubadue Skipton

E. Emogene Rubadue Skipton, age 101, passed away unexpectedly on October 28, 2023 at National Church Residences, Harmony Trace. Emogene was born in Hillard, OH to Frank and Marie (Horch) Hoover. She was a 1940 graduate of Hilliard High School.

Preceded in death by husband and father of her children James Rubadue. Also preceded in death by husband Edward Skipton, son William Rubadue, grandson Francis (Frankie) Aylward, son-in-law Douglas Mitchell, brothers James and Robert (Mae) Hoover and sister-in law Ruth Hauer.

She is survived by her children: Sharon (Frank) Aylward, Janice (Phil) Laing, Patricia (Robert) Leffler, Teresa (Edward) Moran, Elizabeth Mitchell, Susan (Rod Curbelo) Israel, daughter-in-law Gladys Rubadue, step-daughter Susan (Robert) McClincy, sister-in-law Janet Hoover; grandchildren Robert (Meredith) Aylward, Michael (Kristin) Aylward, Patricia (Jason) Gravelle, Iris (Angela) Rubadue, Nathan (Amanda) Laing, Jeff (Kelly Hennessy) Laing, Kelly Laing, Noah (Abbe Ceynar), Jacob, Jordan Leffler, Marsh Moran, Maggie (Kyle) Dunkle, Joseph Downing, Alex Israel, Alexis (Jaison) Tremain, Alex (Brittany Thomas) Mitchell.

Emogene will be greatly missed by her 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Emogene was a lifetime member of St. Cecilia Church. She elevated childrearing and homemaking to an art form. Before the days of YouTube, she could find a solution to fix anything. She was a master seamstress, hair dresser, plumber, electrician, builder, entrepreneur, gardener and hostess.

The family would like to thank the staff of Harmony Trace and National Church Residences Hospice for their excellent care and kindness to Mom.

Emogene’s family will receive friends 4-7 PM Tuesday, November 7 at Schoedinger Grove City 4242 Hoover RD (Hoover Rd at Kingston Ave). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Wednesday, November 8 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church 434 Norton Rd. Rev. Fr. Thomas Buffer celebrant. Interment at Sunset Cemetery.
