Gerald "Garry" Oyler

He was born June 1, 1950, in Mt. Sterling, OH. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Gerald lived a full life and was a person who loved spending his time with family. He enjoyed sharing his passions and interests with others and left a permanent mark on all those who knew him.

Gerald is survived by his childhood sweetheart and loving wife of 55 years, Debbie (Russel) Oyler. Devoted father to Nicole (Kevin) and Zachary (Julia); Loving Grandfather to his 5 Grandchildren: Hayden, Ella, Sage, Bridger, and Lachlan; Sisters, Carolyn Forrest and Paulette Oyler. A lifelong sales professional, Gerald possessed a natural gift for conversation and never met a stranger. He had the respect and appreciation of his customers and peers as he was always known to be honest, fair, and genuine. Gerald spent over 50 years connecting with people and building lasting relationships as a dedicated sales leader who spent years bringing joy, beauty, and connection to the floral and gift industry. What he valued most were the relationships that he built over the many years that lasted far beyond business. He also served as a past President of the Columbus Gift Mart.

Gerald was a passionate custodian of history and a fixture in the antiques community, spending over 50 years collecting and dealing. He developed a keen eye and deep knowledge over his years and enjoyed surrounding himself with the people who shared his passion, as well as the many treasures he found throughout his travels. He took immense joy not just in the sale, but in the hunt, the research, and the sharing of these pieces with fellow dealers, eager collectors, and curious browsers alike.

Gerald was happiest when surrounded by his family. Whether at family gatherings, spending time together sharing stories and memories, or cheering on his grandchildren at their many sporting events, Gerald treasured every moment. He had a remarkable gift for storytelling, bringing laughter, wisdom, and warmth to those around him. The time he spent with family was what he valued most, and the memories created together will be cherished for years to come.

Gerald found great joy and happiness spending time outdoors working in his yard, caring for trees, bushes, plants, and flowers. Whether planting, pruning, or simply maintaining the landscape, he took pride in creating a beautiful space. One of his favorite ways to relax was sitting on the back deck, admiring the beauty of his surroundings and enjoying the results of his hard work.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 13th, from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Schoedinger Norris Funeral Home, located at 4242 Hoover Rd., Grove City, OH 43123.

A funeral service will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the same location, with interment to follow at Pleasant Cemetery, 14220 Era Rd., Mt. Sterling, OH 43143.

Family and friends are welcome to gather to pay their respects and share memories.
