She treasured her time with family, and enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling and sewing. Her sewing skills won Best of Show twice at the Ohio State Fair’s Senior Citizens Arts Shows for her “Basket of Flowers” and “Pansy” crewel stitch embroidery. This skilled seamstress tailored both daughters’ couture wedding dresses, much of the family’s wardrobe and she was even known to bespoke Barbie’s casual outfits as well as crafted themed Christmas ornaments annually, that were said to be magical once displayed on the trees.
She was an avid gardener, partial to perennials, and a connoisseur of mystery novels. Upon retirement, the empty nesters enjoyed destination cruises, seeing much of the world.
