Born on February 20, 1947, in Island Pond, Vermont, Greg was the son of the late Bernard and Eleanor (Hurlbert) Harris. He was raised in Island Pond, where he was baptized and confirmed at Christ Episcopal Church. Greg graduated from Brighton High School before proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force for four years, earning a Purple Heart for his service.
Following his military service, Greg worked on the railroad for the Canadian National Railway. He later pursued training in heavy equipment operations in Texas and went on to build a successful career as the owner of his own heavy equipment and construction company. Greg continued working in the field he loved until retiring at the age of 77.
Greg had a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid NASCAR fan and a devoted supporter of Ohio State Buckeyes football. He loved fishing, especially at Lake Erie, and gardening both vegetables and flowers. He was also known as a true grill master, often with a Miller Lite in hand. Above all, Greg was a dedicated family man who cherished every moment spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, sister and brother.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Teresa J. Harris (née Kruger); his children, Stacie Harris of Naples, Florida and her children Jessica and Jason, Megan (Kevin) Gibson of Baltimore, Ohio and their son Landon, and Sara (Stephen) Stine of Maineville, Ohio and their children Forrest and Addilyn. He will also be missed by his favorite Aunt Frances Sanburn, sister, Holly (Michel) Vallieres; his brother, Scott (Patti) Harris; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Greg was preceded in death by his brothers, Stanley and Cary Harris.
Greg will be remembered for his deep love of family, his warm sense of humor, and his ability to connect with everyone he met. He never knew a stranger and brought joy and laughter wherever he went.
Visitation will be held on April 10, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Schoedinger Norris Grove City, 4242 Hoover Road, Grove City, Ohio, with a funeral service immediately following at 12:00 p.m.
