James “Russ” Spaulding, age 80 of Columbus, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Mount Carmel Grove City. Russ was born in Rawl, WV to the late Cecil and Gladys (Smith) Spaulding. In his younger years he was a horse jockey and trained horses. Most of his professional career was spent as a house-mover, relocating existing homes to new sites around central Ohio. He was strong and hardworking teaching these ethics to his children and other family members. He received great delight in teaching family and friends his gifts of skilled craftsmanship. He also loved to hunt and fish all types of fish and game as well as trap shoot. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Susan M. Spaulding; and siblings Buck and Raymond Spaulding, and Grace McQuirt and Brinda Gabbert. He is survived by his children James “Keith” (Missy) Spaulding, Lonnie Spaulding, and Melinda “Lindy” Moore; grandchildren Brittany (Aaron ) Clark, Dawn Kirk, Kristin (Lewis) Hagerman, Branden (Jessica) Spaulding, Collin (Molly Dee) Spaulding, Anna Moore, Charlie Moore, and James (Tammy) Lyons; 3 great-grandchildren; siblings Shelba (Gene) Jackson, Ralph (Lori) Spaulding, Herman Spaulding, and Joyce Simons; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Russ’ family will receive friends 6-8 PM Monday, August 8 at Schoedinger Grove City 4242 Hoover RD (Hoover Rd at Kingston Ave) where his funeral service will be held 10 AM Tuesday.
