Joan Yokum

Joan was born across from Lawco Lake in Pedro and was raised in Ironton, Ohio. Following her marriage to her loving husband, Robert, she moved to Columbus, Ohio to raise her children, Jami and Todd. She was employed at telephone companies in Ironton and Columbus where she worked with her friend Barb. As a mother, Joan went to nursing school to become an LPN and worked as a nurse for a physician and later the Red Cross in Columbus. For many years, she and her beloved husband traveled to Venice, Florida for winters, where she loved the scenery and wildlife of Florida. Joan, a caring, loving woman, enjoyed puzzles, reading, and shopping. She took pleasure in traveling and spending time with her friends, Billie and Kathie. Her daughter, Jami, was her best friend and she adored her. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joan was a wonderful wife, friend, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, and aunt.

Joan is survived by her husband of 68 years, Robert Yokum; sister, Patricia (Herman) Zornes; daughter, Jami (Kevin) Adams; grandchildren, Hayden Yokum, Sarah (Tom) Macy, and Tyler (Maddie) Adams; great-grandchildren, Connor, Leo, and Hudson Adams; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louella and John Brannigan; stepfather, Marcus Webb; grandparents, Neona and Thomas McClellan and John and Eva Brannigan. Joan also greatly missed her late best friend and aunt, Rosie and late uncle, Wilbur. She is now reunited with her dear son, Todd who she profoundly missed since he passed in 2009.

Visitation will be held 10:30–11:30 am Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at the SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY, 4242 Hoover Rd., Grove City. Funeral service will follow at 11:30 am. Interment and graveside committal will take place at 2:30 pm at Sunset Cemetery.
