Joyce Faye Acal-Salado

Joyce devoted many years of faithful service to Southwestern City Schools, retiring as a bus driver. In that steady work, she was known for the kind of care that shows up every day—quietly compassionate, dependable, and strong in the ways that matter most.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Antonio “Tony” Acal-Salado; her parents, Neil and Donna (Hoskins) Ferebee; her sister, Linda Ferebee; and her daughter-in-law, Jenny Acal-Salado.

Joyce is survived by her children, Jeff (Wendy) Acal-Salado, Linda (Lowell) Meade, Monica (Christen) Haywood, and Tony (Aryn) Acal-Salado; her grandchildren, Nicole Acal-Salado, Drew Acal-Salado, Kimberly Acal-Salado, Antonio Meade, Elayna Herrera, Seven Acal-Salado, Chloe Haywood, Isla Acal-Salado, and Christen Haywood Jr.; her step grandchildren, Christopher Rittenhouse, Tabitha Chandler, Sheena Lister, Kylie Meade, Courtney Butcher, Asia Evans, Demetri Binegar, and Annie Nelson; her great grandchildren, Liam Hartman, Christopher Rittenhouse, Kali Rittenhouse, Peyton Rittenhouse, Korbin Lister, Kamden Lister, Kasen Lister, Landon Chandler, Allison Chandler, Cohen Adkins, Remington Butcher, and Adalynn Meade; brother, John Ferebee; sister, Barb McGilvray; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Beloved and deeply devoted, Joyce found her greatest joy in her children and grandkids, and in the simple, lasting comfort of being together—cookouts, time spent outside, and the steady presence of family. Her selfless care was felt in the way she made room for others, and in the warmth, she brought to everyday moments.

Joyce also treasured life’s quieter pleasures: looking at their horses and horses in general, listening to music, planting sunflowers, shopping, sitting outside, and enjoying cherry pie. These small joys, tended with a gentle spirit, reflected the enduring love she carried for the people and the life she held close.
