Juanita Hayes

A 1955 graduate of Tecumseh High School, Juanita enjoyed bird watching, researching her family’s genealogy, completing crossword puzzles, and spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. An avid reader of history and biographies, she had a sweet tooth for chocolate covered cherries and adored her large porcelain doll collection she accumulated over the years. On November 11, 1955, she married Herbert Allen Hayes, who survives in Powell, Ohio.

A beloved mother and homemaker by trade, Juanita was a member of the WDI Club of Galloway, Ohio for more than 50 years. She belonged to the Norris Chapter of Eastern Star in Springfield, Ohio, and was a devoted member of Galloway Presbyterian Church since the 1960s, where she served on its Session and Typing Committee, printing the church bulletin for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Allen Hayes, of Marysville, Ohio; paternal grandparents, Frank and Anna Witten, of Paintsville, KY; maternal grandparents, Isaac MacDaniel and Louise Osborne, of Sitka, KY; uncles Harkless (Nettie) Witten, of Limerick, Ohio and Gustel (Mary) Witten, of Springfield, Ohio; and aunt Freda (Burt) Rice, also of Springfield, Ohio.

Juanita is survived by daughter, Karen (Ronald) Balzan, of Stony Brook, NY; son Eric (Danielle) Hayes, of Frazeysburg, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Deborah Hayes, of Marysville, Ohio; grandchildren, Kim Hayes and Jason (Ammi Buga) Hayes, both of Vermilion, Krista (Matthew) Couser, of St. Paris, Ohio, Daniel (Kristen) Balzan, of Port Jefferson, NY, Aaron (Rachel) Hayes, of Hilliard, Ohio, Jennifer Balzan, of Boynton Beach, FL, Michael Balzan, of Bayside, NY, and Grace Hayes, of Columbus, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Maddie, Aiden, Logan, Raegan, and Kayce; cousin Terry Witten, of Springfield, Ohio; and many other relatives and close friends.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Schoedinger Grove City, 4242 Hoover Rd., Grove City, Ohio 43123, where funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. Entombment and committal will then proceed at 2 p.m., at Rose Hill Burial Park, 4781 S. Charleston Clifton Rd., Springfield, Ohio 45502.
