Karen Marie Smith

Karen was born on July 20, 1956 in Norfolk VA to Kenneth M. and Lucille J. Wilson. Karen earned her nursing degree from Hocking Technical College and went on to a rewarding career helping those in need at Adena Hospital in Chillicothe OH, Christus Hospital in Corpus Cristi TX and both Riverside United Methodist Hospital and Grant Medical Center in Columbus OH. She then moved on to cardiovascular research and finished her career as a case manager for Aetna.

She met her husband, Bill, while working in the cath lab at Grant Medical Center. They were lucky enough to spend 25 wonderful years together. Karen very much enjoyed crafting, especially scrapbooking, card making and the good times she shared with all her crafty friends.

Karen was preceded in death by her mother, father and brother Ken Jr. She is survived by her loving husband, Bill, her sister Kathy and her nephews Kevin, Kenny and Joey as well as her faithful dogs Cody, Kallie and Kane.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Karen’s honor to the Franklin County Animal Shelter or the ASPCA.
