Kristen Millet, age 44, of Grove City, Ohio passed away in her home on Friday, May 29, 2026 after a courageous two and a half year struggle with Glioblastoma. Kristen was born on November 29, 1981, in Toledo, Ohio. She graduated with honors from St. Ursula Academy in Ottawa Hills, Ohio in 1999. She graduated from The Ohio State University earning a B.S. in education and an M.Ed., in special education. Kristen also participated in OSU’s Accelerated Licensure Program for her Principalship certification. OSU always held a special place in Kristen’s heart, where she spent many happy years. While there, Kristen was an active member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. Best of all, she met fellow Buckeye and future husband, Wes.
Kristen is survived by her beloved husband, Wesley Millet; her cherished children Riley and Mason; her devoted parents, Carol Fornof and Jeff Shaw; loving in-laws, Fred and Marcia Millet; and aunts, uncles, and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Kathryn Brancheau.
Kristen was known for her vibrant spirit, sharp intelligence, and quick wit. She possessed a rare ability to invoke laughter in others while also making them think critically. Her humor and insight left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Kristen had an exceptionally curated sense of style and fashion that reflected her individuality, confidence, and artistic eye. Whether through her words, her work, or her creativity, she brought beauty, thoughtfulness, and authenticity into the world around her. She especially loved expressing herself through her Etsy shop, Witherwill Studios.
Kristen began her teaching career at Jackson Middle School in Grove City. After gaining valuable experience, both in the classroom and as a district-wide leader, Kristen proudly assumed the role of assistant principal at Hawthorne Elementary in the Westerville City School District and subsequently served as a consultant for the Ohio Department of Education. Kristen devoted her life to helping students learn, grow, and believe in themselves. As a respected leader and expert in special education pedagogy, she was a fierce advocate for children with disabilities and their families. She approached her work with patience, wisdom, compassion, and a strong conviction that every student deserved to be seen, valued, and given every opportunity to succeed.
Her greatest classroom, however, was her home. Kristen took immense pride in her children and found deep joy in their academic, artistic and athletic accomplishments. She taught Riley (15) and Mason (11) through her example of perseverance, humor, and unconditional love. One of Kristen’s greatest joys was spending priceless family time on Hilton Head Island.
As Jesus taught with compassion, grace, and love, Kristen lived her life in much the same way - lifting others up, guiding those in need, and leaving a lasting impact on the hearts of so many.
Kristen spent several weeks at Ohio State Dodd Rehabilitation Hospital where she encountered an engaging, encouraging and loving staff who helped her accomplish extraordinary feats in spite of her physical limitations. Prior to her passing, Kristen requested memorial contributions be made to Ohio State Dodd Rehabilitation Hospital. https://wexnermedical.osu.edu/locations/dodd-rehabilitation-hospital
