

Lyn Allison Lombard Palka passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025. Born March 30, 1947, in Columbus, Ohio, she was preceded in death by Father Dennis Lombard and Mother Jean Lombard. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Andrew Palka; brothers Mark Lombard and Dick Lombard; nephews Weston Lombard and Stefan Lombard; nieces Alexandra Lombard and Sophia Lombard; grandnephews Solomon Lombard and William Heidel; and grandniece Owen Lombard.
Lyn was born in Columbus, Ohio and attended Upper Arlington High School, graduating in 1965. She attended both Ohio University and The Ohio State University as an undergraduate, majoring in English.
She had several hobbies and interests, which included photography, gardening, cooking, reading, traveling, painting, and watching classic cinema with her husband, Andy. Early in her working career, she was a staff photographer for The Ohio Historical Society’s Ohio Village. She also enjoyed doing landscape photography as well as macro photography of flowers and insects. In her later career, she was an elder caregiver, an occupation that suited her compassionate and giving nature. Lyn was an experienced gardener who not only tended her own home garden but also readily provided gardening instruction and assistance to her friends and neighbors. She also was a member of the OSU Master Gardener program for several years. She was an accomplished cook who enjoyed discovering and creating new dishes and was a member of the Cancer Support Community Central Ohio’s Cooking for Wellness Group. Lyn and Andy enjoyed traveling and toured the UK, Scotland, Canada, Mexico, Cape Cod, Nantucket Island, Washington DC, New Orleans, LA, Key West, FL, San Francisco, CA, Yosemite National Park, and Sequoia National Park during their time together. She loved books and was an avid reader, both for pleasure and for the joy of learning. Lyn also loved animals and, with her husband owned and raised five beloved German Shepherds and ten cats during their many years together. She made friends easily and was known for her friendliness, her engaging manner, and for her warm, caring personality.
The family is extremely grateful to the doctors and staff of The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute for their dedicated treatment and care. Special thanks also go out to the nurses and staff at the Hospice of Central Ohio for their kindness and for the exceptional level of loving care that they provided.
Lyn’s family will receive friends on Friday, May 30th, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 pm at Schoedinger Norris Grove City, 4242 Hoover Road, Grove City, Ohio 43123. They will be holding a private memorial service at a later date.
