Mable Louise Bowden

Mable Louise Bowden, 97, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2026. She was born September 28, 1928 in North Carolina to the late Russell and Lula (Roark) Price. She spent her younger years growing up in West Virginia before moving to Ohio.

A longtime resident of Grove City, Ohio, Mable held family close at the center of her life. She cherished the time she spent with her church people and with those she loved, offering a steady presence marked by devotion, loyalty, and a deep sense of care for others.

Mable’s faith was a guiding strength throughout her life. A devoted Christian and a longtime member of Parson's Ave Church of God, she found comfort and purpose in her beliefs and in the fellowship of her church community.

She also carried a spirit that was unmistakably her own—self-reliant, warmly loved, and never afraid to show a bit of humor and ornery charm. A frequent patron of McDonalds, she enjoyed the simple routines that made her smile. She also enjoyed writing songs and singing them, sharing her voice in ways that reflected both her heart and her steadfast faith.

Mable Louise Bowden will be remembered with respect, gratitude, and affection by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 29 years, Chester Ray Bowden; son, Buford Harold Bowden; daughter, Madira R. Adkins; brothers, Max Price and Russell Price, Jr.; and sister, Irene Bryant.

Mable is survived by her sons, Terry (Judy) Bowden and Doug (Ora) Bowden; sister, Savonne Vickers; son-in-law, Fred Adkins; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 20, 2026 from 12:00 to 1:00pm at Parsons Ave Church of God, 3389 Parsons Ave, Columbus where funeral service will follow at 1:00pm. Pastor Brice Utt officiating. Interment Grove City Cemetery East.
