Mark was a proud graduate of Ohio University, where he earned his degree in Art. His life journey led him to a profound partnership with Miss Sandra Lea Harrison, whom he married at Grace Methodist Church in Gallipolis, Ohio, on December 22, 1963. After college, Mark served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1966 as a Specialist 5, where he was stationed at the West Point Military Academy Post Chapel as a Chaplain's Assistant.
Following his military service, Mark embarked on a long and fulfilling career with Salvato Coe + Gabor Associates, a prominent graphic design firm in Columbus, Ohio. Over his 38-year tenure, he was instrumental in shaping many logos and advertising campaigns that are still remembered by those who lived in Central Ohio during the 1980s and 1990s. Mark retired in December 2006.
An active member of his community, Mark was involved with the Grove City Western Squares square dance club and was a past member of the Central Ohio Anglers & Hunters Club. He also was a founding member of the Central Ohio Fly Fishers.
His commitment to his faith and community was evident in his long association with First Community Church. Mark was a dedicated member for over 30 years, first at the south campus in Marble Cliff and later at the north campus in Hilliard, where he participated in the installation of the church's new pipe organ.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Charles J. and Ida L. Misicka. He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Sandra Lea Misicka; his son Matt (Vini) and daughter Holly (Chris Jackson); and his cherished grandchildren Elina Misicka, Haley Jackson, Hannah Jackson, and Kovid Misicka. He is also survived by his brothers David (Gail) and Michael (Jane), as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Mark loved music, art, the great outdoors, his Bobcats and Buckeyes, and his unwavering faith. Most of all, he cherished his family-his amazing wife, his children, and his grandchildren. His warmth, creativity, and dedication will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of Mark’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 28, 2024 at First Community Church, North Campus, 3777 Dublin Rd., Columbus, Ohio 43221. For those who wish to attend remotely, the service will be livestreamed at the following links:
