

Michael T. George, also known as “the Candy Man”, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Grant Medical Center after a long illness. He is preceded in death by his parents, Salem K and Georgia L. (Racey) George, and brother, Matthew K. George. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Jane M. Nelson-George, daughters Dodie (Kevin Caldwell) George, Michele (Claude) Appel, and Jennifer M. Nelson, sons Michael S. George, John M. Nelson, and Jason M. (Denise) Nelson, sisters Georgie (Peter) Petit and Diane (Larry) Ciavarella, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Michael proudly served his Country in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He retired from AEP after 35 years of faithful service. In his spare time Michael liked to keep up with Canton McKinley football and classic cars especially Ford. He has a large coin collection and hot wheel car collection, and he enjoyed watching older movies especially the old westerns, or just listening to jazz or classic rock, and playing the lottery. He was also an animal lover, of cats in particular. A celebration of life service for family and friends will be held on Saturday June 24th from 6-8pm at Tommy’s Diner 914 W.
