
Ruth was born in Charleston, South Carolina on August 2, 1960. She was raised in a military family and after her father retired from the military, they relocated to Columbus, Ohio.
She attended West High School before working in transportation for approximately thirty years. Ruth later continued her career in home health, where her caring nature and strong work ethic were evident to all who knew her.
Ruth was a devoted mother to her daughter, Nikki. Nikki was the center of her world and being a mother shaped much of her life.
Ruth was known for her intelligence and her ability to communicate with ease. She spoke directly and honestly, always with kindness, and was generous by nature and always willing to help others.
She had a deep love for animals, especially cats, and was always known for taking care of them. She also enjoyed music and cherished attending concerts and events with Nikki, including performances by Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Cirque du Soleil. Ruth loved playing cards and spent many happy times playing Euchre with friends.
Ruth was spiritual and held a strong belief in her Savior, which guided her throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Raymond Harris and Oretta May Harris, her husband, Scotty L. Dillon, and her beloved cats Freddy, Miss Kitty, and Stinker.
She is survived by her daughter Nichole “Nikki” Harris (Bob), her sister Robin Perry (Phil Noland Jr.), her niece Natalie Perry (Thad Keefer) and their son, Kaden, and her cherished cats Nubs and Grinch.
Funeral services and interment will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 24, 2026, in the chapel at Kingwood Memorial Park, located at 8230 Columbus Pike, Lewis Center, Ohio 43035.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Ruth by paying it forward through an act of kindness to someone in need, reflecting the compassion and generosity that defined her life.
