Sherry Lee (Esposito) Kuehnle (79) passed away unexpectedly on June 20, 2026. She was born in Chicago, Illinois to Anthony and Laverne (Miller) Esposito. Sherry was preceded in death by Kenton, her loving husband of 55 years. She was a loving mother to children Robert (Angela) Kuehnle, Amanda (Frank) Koenig, and Matthew Kuehnle. She was grandma to Ethan, Ava, Olivia, Cameron, and McGregor. She was Sherry-Baby to all who loved her. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law John (Arlene) Kuehnle and Robert (Susan) Kuehnle.
Sherry Kuehnle was a proud graduate of Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois. She earned her Master’s Degree from The Ohio State University. She started her career teaching in Rosemont, Illinois before moving to Columbus the week after her wedding. Two months later, she started teaching 3rd grade at Glendening Elementary within the Groveport Madison Local School District. She was promoted to principal of Asbury Elementary, which had been closed due to budget cuts, and revitalized that community. Before retiring in 2005, she was the assistant superintendent in charge of personnel and curriculum. Her time at Groveport Madison was challenging but fulfilling. Through her work and volunteering, she cherished the relationships of those she met. Her closest friends were those who worked with her at Asbury Elementary, who are now called “The Beach Girls!”
Sherry was an involved and loving mother. She was a volunteer at school events and served two terms on the Madison-Plains Board of Education. Sherry was an avid sports fan with season tickets to Ohio State football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball, as well as The Columbus Clippers. If she were not attending a sporting event, she would be enjoying the Columbus Symphony or going to a local arts event with her YMCA friends. In 1973, Sherry was initiated into the Delta Mu chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma International, an organization that promotes women educators and excellence in education. She was also a member of Session and served on many committees within her church.
