William "Bill" Brizendine, 88, of Grove City, Ohio, passed into eternal life on February 24th, 2022. Born April 22nd, 1933 in Cranberry, West Virginia, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Rayalene Brizendine, daughter Billie Hawks, parents Charles and Ada Brizendine, brothers Bernard and Paul Brizendine, and sisters Vivian Garrett and Myrtle Cozart, and family loved one, Eva Mae Matheny.
He is survived by sons Jim (Sue) Brizendine and Bob (Sheri) Brizendine; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Raymona (Ralph) Marlow, Raychel (Frank) Houston, and several loving nieces and nephews.
Bill served his country in the Korean War in the US Army and US Marines. He loved to tell the stories of his time in Japan and other parts of the world.
Bill retired from McCracken Pipe and Concrete / Martin Marietta, but he never really retired. His work ethic was too strong. So, while he was in retirement, he did his yard work and projects in "shifts", taking breaks and lunches as he did every day during his 40 years of employment.
But he also knew when to take a break, and for that, he loved his annual trips to Marco Island, Florida where he and Rayalene shared countless sunsets and where he soaked up the sun and chatted with the other snowbirds. He also enjoyed every chance to be with family and to socialize with neighbors and friends. He was an avid fan of "the westerns" particularly ones with John Wayne, and especially ones with "knock-down, drag-out" fight scenes. In his later years, he enjoyed watching his neighborhood grow and greeting his neighbors from "his seat" in his garage, where he would enjoy one cigar or pipe daily. He had a joke for every occasion and if you stopped by you would hear one (or two).
Bill was a member of the Southwestern Church of Christ in Grove City.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Schoedinger Grove City, 4242 Hoover Rd. (HOOVER RD AT KINGSTON AVE), Grove City. Services will be private. Interment Sunset Cemetery in Galloway.
