Carolyn Guillory

A native of Port Arthur, Texas, she was born on March 29, 1948; the only child of Iva Mae and Landry Thomas. A 1966 graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School, she received an undergraduate degree in Sociology from Prairie View A&M University and a graduate degree in Criminology from Sam Houston State University. Her civic involvements include Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. and Excelsior Ladies.

Carolyn’s career began as a Probation Officer with the Jefferson County Adult Probation Department. She also worked as a Vocational Counselor for the Texas Rehabilitation Commission. Carolyn retired after a long career as a Supervising United States Probation Officer.

She was the mother of three: Crystal Yvette Guillory of Cypress, Texas, William Anthony Guillory, Jr. (Karla) of Cedar Hill, Texas, and Kendra ReNae Guillory of Houston, Texas.

She is survived by her three children, a daughter-in-law, and four grandchildren: Christopher Strawder, Kirian Strawder, Rebecah Morgan Silva, and Sabrina Cruz. Also left to mourn her passing is a host of cousins, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Landry Thomas, and her mother Iva Mae Thomas.

Services will be on Friday July 25, 2014 at 11AM (viewing at 9AM) at New Hope Baptist Church located at 549 W. Gulfway Drive, Port Arthur, Texas 77640. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
