Dewitt Knight

John was born in Port Arthur, Texas to Dewitt (Clabber) and Mary Virginia Knight. John adored his loving wife Pat of 54 years. John retired from Neches Butane after 37 years and was the owner of John Knight Construction. John was on the Board of Directors for The Homebuilders Association and belonged to the Cosmopolitan Lodge #872. Pat and John were long time members of First Baptist Church of Nederland. They enjoyed their Sunday school classes and worship with their family and friends.

John is survived by one son, John David Knight and wife Tracy of Lumberton, one daughter Margie Abshire and husband Dwain of Baytown. Grandchildren: Chase Ratcliff and wife Ashleigh and Brandon Ratcliff, both of Nederland and two great granddaughters Braeleigh and Olivia Ratcliff. One sister Sue Hays and husband Rupert of San Antonio.

He is preceded in death by his parents and Uncle Jack Benton.

John and Pat were also survived by extended family: Todd Wilks and wife Dallas of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Katherine Turner and husband Clint of Lumberton, Texas. and two great grandsons.

Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral Services will be at 4:00 PM Sunday, October 27, 2013 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
