Donna "Petunia" Lynn Caillier Cox was born June 12, 1952 in Port Arthur, Texas to Una Meyers Caillier and Gabriel "Blackie" Caillier. She was the second born of three children. Donna graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1970.
Donna was a longtime resident of Beaumont, Texas. She enjoyed reading, cooking, watching her soaps, listening to music and keeping up with politics and world events. Donna was a lover of cats. Apparently her cats and their friends enjoyed reading also. They would follow her from her apartment all the way downtown to the library and wait patiently for her until she was done and then joined her for the walk home.
She was God fearing woman and attended St. Anthony's Cathedral Basilica in Beaumont, Texas. She enjoyed watching Mother Angelica on EWTN. She was a simple person and knew that this world was only a station.
Donna's favorite moments were those she shared with her beloved son Michael. They spent many hours on the phone laughing, discussing their day and their dreams for one another. They recently spent three weeks together over the Christmas and New Year's holiday season. They never ran out of things to talk about and only needed each other for entertainment. There were many nights where they stayed up late just laughing and telling stories. Donna was a very supportive and giving mother and would do anything for her son. Although she cherished having his company, she encouraged him as a young man to live in Houston, Texas where she thought he would have more opportunities.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Una Meyers Caillier and Gabriel "Blackie" Caillier and her brother Patrick Caillier.
During her sleep on February 24, 2016, Donna was called home to be with her Lord. Left to cherish her memory are: her only child, Michael Christopher Cox of Houston, TX; her sister, Diana Lewis (Robert) of Port Arthur, TX; her aunts: Janet Provost of Garland, TX and Lou Ann Francois of Port Arthur, TX; and three nieces, cousins and many dear friends.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Beaumont Animal Shelter, 1884 Pine Street, Beaumont, TX 77703.
