Howard Jenkins Jr.

Howard "Lurch" Jenkins, Jr., 56, of Port Arthur, was born on September 13, 1954, in Port Arthur, TX, to Howard Jenkins, Sr. and the late Mary Batiste-Jenkins. He was a 1973 graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School.

He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force from 1973 - 1977. He was last employed by Veolia Environmental Services in their Industrial Department.

Mr. Jenkins departed this life on Thursday, July 21, 2011, after a short illness at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas surrounded by family and friends.

He leaves memories to cherish with his loving and devoted wife, Verna “Jeannie” Jenkins of Port Arthur, TX; his father Howard Jenkins, Sr., of Grand Cane, LA.; daughter, Mary Michelle Jenkins-Hollis, of Baytown, step-daughter Aredasha Lewis of Port Arthur; son Howard Kavon Ardoin, of Houston, step-sons Alvin and Allen Lewis of Port Arthur; three brothers, Darryl Jenkins (deLisa) Norfolk, VA., Roland Jenkins, Shreveport, LA., and Carl Jenkins, Houston; six sisters, Carolyn Bates, Gloria Roberson

(Phillip), Duggie Ann Southern, of Port Arthur, Elvenia Faye Jenkins- Carey, Oakland, CA., Linda Jenkins-Fuller (Ron), Fairfield, CA., and Sonjia Renea

Jenkins-Amos, Vinton, LA.; two granddaughters Brittany and Taylor Hollis of Baytown, goddaughter Masia Collins, four step-grandchildren Anyiah and Henry

Como, Khloe and Skylar Lewis all of Port Arthur, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, July 30th, 2011 from 12:30pm - 2 pm. The funeral service is scheduled for 2 pm at Christian Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 1919 Jefferson Dr., Port Arthur, 77642. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
