Michael Pitre

Michael was born August 28, 1967 Port Arthur, TX to Walter and Katie Pitre. He was christened, baptized and received his Christian nurturing at Rock Island Baptist Church and was a 1985 graduate of Lincoln High School.

After graduation, he attended the University of Houston, earning his bachelor’s degree in concert and Jazz music. He also attended the University of Brooklyn in New York. He taught elementary school music (band) in Houston, Bellaire, New York and San Francisco.

He traveled extensively abroad and in the states with various bands. At the time of his demise, he was with the “Bohemian Knuckleboogies” of San Francisco - his organized group.

Michael is survived by his parents, wife and step son, aunts, uncles, great aunts and uncles, other relatives and friends, also his very special friends of San Francisco - Gary Williams, and Gerald Bryant.

Funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, December 30, 2011 at Rock Island Baptist Church with a viewing from 9 a.m. until service time with Rev. Ransom E. Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
