He was born on August 20, 1928 to Edith and Oswald Welch in Port Arthur, Texas. He was a lifelong resident of the area. Walter served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Chevron as a buyer after 40 years of service. Walter was a member of First Baptist Church in Groves.
Visitation will be on Saturday, January 25, 2014 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Private Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Leatrice Welch.
He is survived by his grandsons, Gregg Welch of Sour Lake, Texas, Jeremy Stafford of Hamshire, Texas, granddaughter, Shaunna Welch of Warren, Texas and his brother, Allen Welch of Groves, Texas.
