Alan Montgomery

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alan McCoy Montgomery at Guelph General Hospital on April 12th, 2023. Alan was in his 91st year and passed peacefully in the presence of his family.

Alan was the beloved husband of Joy Montgomery (nee David), his wife of 69 years, and the loving father of Lynne (Michael), Colleen (Maureen), and John (Jill). Loving grandfather to Meghan, Emily, Brendon (Cassie), Taylor, Rachel, Abbey (Corey) and Gavin. Loving great-grandfather to Jade.

Predeceased by his brothers Grant (Elsie) and Don (Mary, Ellen).

Alan was long time valued employee at Imperial Oil, retiring in 1987. Alan continued his much loved volunteer work with the “Ski Hawks” as an instructor for blind skiers, until the age of 84. Skiing being his passion, Alan did not put his beloved ski’s away until the age of 86.

At a younger age, Alan was very involved with Scouts Canada. His fireside skills and campfire song repertoire was renowned and passed on through the generations.

Arrangements entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre and Son’s Funeral Home in Guelph Ontario. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held in Guelph on May 13, 2023. Time to be decided.
