Carole Anne Milligan

Passed away at the Guelph General Hospital, on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at the age of 67. Carole was the loving mother of Jennifer Brooks. She is survived by her mother Marjorie Milligan and her brother David Milligan. Predeceased by her father Edward Milligan. We are devastated at the sudden lost of a beautiful soul - Carole. She was above all a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt and a generous friend who will be greatly missed and remembered by all whose lives she so graciously touched. Carol was a tireless, fearless and committed soul in creating a better world for all of us, from the earliest age she could apply her love and strength to the good fight. She cared deeply about and worked for, women's issues, health care, and equality for all. She was a long time activist for Peace - working with groups to stop the proliferation of nuclear arms; she was an active part of the Peace Petition Caravan Campaign, the Campaign for Equality in Southern Africa , OPIRG, and ran for Guelph City Council. Carole worked to make life better for all women everyday through her involvement with several woman's organizations, such as The Guelph Women's Centre, Women Against Violence Against Women, Kingston Interval House and through her current job at Guelph Wellington Victim's Services. She was part of a working group who envisioned the Guelph Community Health Centre and later served on it's board of directors. Carole was a mentor to many, both young and old. Her humility, her dignity, her caring anger, her quiet humour and her expansive love will be forever missed. A Memorial Service will be held at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Carole's Life will be held at a later date.
